Rather complicated oval cartouche, carved with artful caligraphic arabic within a double border.

Condition: Extremely fine, completely intact with inky deposits.

Cornet-shaped, in bronze with a brown patina, it rests on 3 feet scalloped in foaming waves rising towards a base decorated with other waves. The body is also decorated in its center with an openwork knot of vine branches and bunches of grapes. The neck is widely flared into a floral corolla. Signed Toto Hidemitsu Kansei under the base. A very warm and appealing Chinese porcelain blue and white jar with swirling leaf and vine decoration similar to those produced during the Kangxi reign. This example dates to about 1880, late in the Qing dynasty.
