19th century Japanese small lacquered wood netsuke representing a theatrical mask, possibly that of Chu-Beshimi. Uncommon image, excellent intense face, great patina. Crisp detailing, nicely lacquered, some wear to the surface. Signed RYUUN on the back bar - the artist is listed in NETSUKE MASKS by Raymond Bushell, p. 175, signatures 241-243. Height 1.09 inches.

Late Qing Dynasy (1880s 10 1911) Chinese scholar agate seal of cylindrical shape. Wonderful simple piece appropriate for scholar’s desk, pleasant finish to the stone. The bottom is crisply carved with four raised characters, old red seal paste in the grooves. Beautiful stone of orange color with subtle play of lighter colored veins. old dried sea paste in the grooves...

Beatiful floral design on the top and on the sides garlanded and framed bas relief portraits of rulers. Super interesting old silver stamps (see closeups), incl. a winged Griffin and a crowned A. The purity is c. 900.

Mask of the "Nuo" esoteric theater representing the character of Master Jiang, a respected professor. Polychrome wood, with animal hair under the nose and around the chin to represent mustache and beard. China, early 19th century. Height: 9 3/8" (24 cm). The mask is nicely mounted on a custom metal stand. Very good condition. Publications: "Le Masque de Chine" by Yves Crehalet Actes Sud Publisher, France, 2007 (p. 148).

A pair of masks representing the two variations of Tengu, the long nosed Tengu and the Karasu (Crow) Tengu mounted on a wooden placard dating from the Meiji period. Each mask is of carved and lacquered wood with inset glass eyes. The placard is 38cm (15 inches) wide 22.5 cm (9 inches) tall and the masks are roughly 11 cm (4 inches plus) in depth. It looks as if the Karasu Tengu mask has had the eyes repaired, and they appear cloudy by comparison to those of the the long nosed partner...

A Chinese Famille Rose Ewer, Qing Dynasty. Height approximately 22.5 cm. There are two chips on the spout, two hairlines near the base, and a chip plus a hairline on the rim. In good condition.

Anasazi / St Johns Poly-chrome with animal figures on outside ca. 1300 ad., it appears they smoked the inside on purpose for what reason it is not know, it has a complex design on interior and 6 deer or antelopes drawn on outside in white paint(interesting), on one side of bowl there is restoration on rim approx: 10%. It is approx: 9-1/2"wide X 3-1/2"deep. A "Certificate Of Authenticity, Release and Disclosure" Statement will be provided...

This tall and lovely Hagi chawan rests firmly on a wari kodai or “split foot” pedestal that is unglazed—displaying the coarse rich clay. The crackled milky glaze covers the curves and contours of the bowl, contrasting dramatically between the foot and the clay body. Hagi-ware such as this is part of a tradition stretching back over 400 years and is a high-fired stoneware type of pottery...

A nicely done American folk art watercolor on paper profile portrait. The young man is wearing a blue-gray jacket and a white lacy cravat. Housed in an old gilded frame with a newer interior velvet liner. Framed size is 7 1/4 " by 7 1/4", and the sight size is 2 5/8" by 2 5/8". Excellent condition with no problems.

Exceptionally beautiful Japanese lacquer box with a small doll, mame (pea sized) Ichimatsu nigyo (doll) inside - she actually is 4 ½” tall. This must have been some girl's (or woman’s) treasure box years ago. It may have been a gift from her mother or grandmother. The lacquer box is decorated with auspicious designs; a long tailed turtle emerging from a stream, pine, bamboo and rocks on the bank with a crane flying above...

An antique Japanese Honbako (book storage chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original hardware with bronze locks added at a later date for security of drawers. 2 hinged doors open with the left door secured by a clasp style lock situated at the center of the shelf. Constructed using hardened wood nails and Japanese joinery.

Porcelain cup with curved sides, with a hand painted blue decor on a white background representing a landscape showing on the left side a rocky lakeshore with two old men sitting under a gnarled tree, and the right side a fisherman rowing on a boat. Above the scenery, a four line inscription. Two character mark beneath. The rim is protected by a bronze circle, but this is not meant to hide any blemish. China, Qing Dynasty. Height: 3,3 cm. Diameter: 11,4 cm. Very good condition.

A Japanese earthenware hot water pourer (yuzamashi), decorated with shaped panels depicting landscapes and flowers and roundels, all on a gilt red ground, the base marked Kutani, Shoza. Dimensions: 3/ 3/16" (8cm) x 4 1/8" (10.5cm) across(from tip to tip) x 1 7/8" (4.5 cm) high. Meiji period.

Matched pair of late Qing Dynasty Beijing Milk Glass Bangles emulating Burmese Jade. These have an opalescent glow, with each having a tiny Jade green splash on the side. Made for the “poor folks” these are hand pulled- made from a straight piece, wound and quickly fused together. The glass has a lot of tiny bubbles (like a glass of champagne) and they are both in excellent condition. No chips, scratches or breaks. Outer diameter: 73mm, inner diameter: 55mm...

Chinese Silver Pouch shape Pendant, Ca. 1920, 1 3/8" wide, 1" high, 1/2" deep, etched low relief of Chinese Character on one side, flower pedal on the other side, all in one piece, the condition is good.

A fine black stone stamp seal with high relief, Ancient Near East Uruk period, c. 2nd. half of the 4th. millenium BC.

A wonderful Kutani saki bottle, done in the Yoshidaya style. Decorated in brown, green, yellow ochre, and blue enamels with shaped panels of landscape scenes. In excellent condition, no chips, no hairlines, no cracks, it measures 6.75” high x 3”. This is a revival piece done in the Meiji period circa 1890-1900.

Refined silver bowl with embossed irises cast and chiseled inside on a hand-hammered ground on the bulbous body, raised on an oval foot. Signature engraved under the base Watanabe zo and Junjin.
