Early 19th century ebony netsuke of a shishi (Buddhist lion) sitting foursquare on a base, its head turned to the right. Like any dark object does not photograph well. Wonderful netsuke carved with confidence and great detail - see its alert face, bushy tail, well defined ribs and paws. Wonderful sense of volume, beautiful lustre unique to ebony. Height 1 5/16 inches.
A curved brass box with hinged lid and a small locking clasp. Beautifully decorated with interlacing patterns, tendrils and Islamic calligraphy inscriptions, inlaid in silver and copper. A Chinese porcelain puzzle tea pot with famille verte color palette motifs of flowers on flecked enamel ground. The teapot is in the shape of the Chinese character "fu" meaning "good fortune". The piece is hand-painted in enamel with the image of a court official and vase on one side, and an attendant holding a flower on the reverse side. Old restoration.

A scarce and very impressive large white bronze / bell metal Cauldron, Northern Europe, Sweden or Denmark, c. mid 18th. century.
The exceptional cauldron were part of luxery interior of a kitchen of an important mansion / manor in the 18th. century and is with initials from the family. The cauldron is tanding three seperately cast legs and two Gothic style handles are attached, concenthric decoration and initials in relief as part of the casting.

A fine shoe-shaped - katsugata tea bowl of black Oribe (oribe-kuro chawan), the coarse Mino clay is covered with a thick black glaze, on one side a cartouches featuring irregular strips patterns in iron-brown glaze on creamy ground.

Rich green glaze covers this elongated delicate undulating bottle from the Kosugi-yaki tradition of the Kaga region near modern day Kanazawa city. This bottle is roughly 20 cm (8 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

A fine sweetmeat with a double ogee bowl with a slightly everted rim. The bowl is atop a bladed knop, below which is a hollow 8 sided molded pedestal stem. At the bottom of the stem are 4 merises above a nicely domed and folded foot.
The glass is in overall excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. There is a small (1/4" by 1/8") manufacturing flaw in the side of the bowl, shown in extreme closeup in the 4th photo. The flaw can be seen and felt on both sides, but in not broken...

This large pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago during the Machang Phase (c. 2300 - 2000 BC) of the Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. It is relatively highly-fired and made from a pale yellowish-brown pottery. 19th century boxwood netsuke of snickering Hotei covering his mouth with an open fan and holding kakhara in the other. Kakhara is an implement for a wandering monk or pilgrim a Buddhist rattle to scare off small creatures like snakes and insects, and thus prevent the carrier from stepping on them. Hotei is one of the 7 Gods of Good Luck and is considered an incarnation of Maitreya - the Buddha of the future...
A fine larger stamp seal with an engraved handle in cream stone marble or alabast (?), made during Hittite expansion in the Hittite style, c. 2nd. millenium BC.
