Great looking silver and amethyst cuff links by Antonio Pineda. Beautiful faceted amethysts make these 3 dimensional and provide a warm contrast to the silver. These measure 5/8" by 1/2" and are in fine original condition. They are signed with one of Antonio Pineda's earliest marks- Silver by Tono and the eagle. Spectacular cuff links.

One of the legendary designs in the index of vintage Mexican silver jewelry, the "armadillo" can be found with both Hector Aguilar's signature and that of Manuel Altamirano's. It has been emulated by other maestros as well, less-celebrated and anonymous, yet the most important names associated with it are definitely the first two even though it was Valentin Vidauretta who created it...

This is only the second time I have ever had this incredible carved "mask" and sterling silver Mexican Deco pin / pendant and I am thrilled to have come upon another example after years of looking for it! One of the most enchanting "masks" from this period I have seen in terms of the lapidary skill it demonstrates, I call it euphemistically a "Medusa head" even though its theme is a little more gruesome than the severed head of a gorgon from ancient Greek mythology...

FABULOUS Armadillo design 940 necklace made by Hector Aguilar. It is graceful and solid at the same time with lots of movement. It measures 17 1/2" end to end and is 1 1/2" wide at the widest center oval. It weighs 79 grams. All of the pieces are in excellent condition and original except the velvet which must have been replaced as it has no wear at all, unless this piece was just never worn. The clasp is original. Signed for Hector Aguilar as shown in the photo...

A piece from the opening years of the Los Castillo taller this is a simply stunning bracelet! Despite the almost minimalist design, the cuff is breath-taking with its huge black onyx cab that centers its face and glistens whenever the light hits it. The sterling frame has thick twist-rope accents while big fleur-de-lis motifs flank the stone...

Measuring 4 inches high & 3 1/2" across this impressive hand wrought sterling silver & bronze brooch was designed & signed in the 1940's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The detailed repousse' work is exquisite & the condition excellent. The piece weighs 57 grams and is fully hallmarked. The pin back & safety are in fine working order. Pictured on the cover of the 4th edition of MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill & Carole Berk and on Phyllis Goddard's site spratlingsilver.com...

This is a signed, hand wrought Frank Patania necklace. One of the most well known Southwestern artists from the 40's when William Spratling was also designing. His work is sought after and when you put this chest plate on it's simplicity transforms you. Seeing the underside is exciting as you can see the pound marks from working the silver into shape and the press marks of carving the hatch marks. There is a dark patina and no damage. The carved markings look like little Teepee's when in hand...

A most desirable signed Matl from when Matilde Poulat was designing in her shop. This necklace has a 16.75 in. wearable length with a width of .80 of an inch. The head is the larger size with varied tones of large blue turquoise stones. Old Matl is so hard to find and this design is seen mostly in gold wash over silver. This one is all silver. You may see these in a shorter length for less money but they will rarely fit due to the length. The weight is 124 grams...

Massive Los Ballesteros Mexican silver pendant, layered, adorned with beading and oxidation, in a convex shape that pushes the huge citrine centering it out at you - this is one of the most impressive pendants of theirs I have seen. For me it betrays a distinct Spanish Colonial influence as it based on the ornate order medals royals around the world like to bestow on select individuals to show favor and appreciation...

A most unusual Mexican Deco necklace, this Mexico City figural example falls under several categories. Its links are inlaid with azur-malachite in the Los Castillo "mozaico azteca" style but it also belongs in the "mask" jewelry sub-genre thanks to the repousse portrait adorning the central station. And even though this is not a work from Taxco and its maker is, for all intents and purposes, an "unsung" contributor to Mexico's 20th c...

Signed with the old linear mark for design # 365 Los Castillo. This large 3.5in. x 3.5in, thick, silver dragon is iconic for it's detail and quality workmanship to Los Castillo collectors. The heavy open backed repousse shows a very early work. The 4th row of the hallmark says MADE IN MEXICO as you can see in the hands clearly. The patina is a natural, very dark color adding beauty to the carving on the top side of this brooch. We do not see this design often so make this a treasure you put in y...

The links in this Deco Mexican silver necklace by Victoria , to the world Ana Maria Nunez de Brilanti, are inspired by cactus flowers and hand-wrought in sterling silver sheet with good thickness. One of my favorite designs by her, it was available in at least two different widths and the example at hand is the narrower, easier to wear version no matter what the occasion or the ... weather is. Deeply chased and oxidized lines form the stylized petals and each flower is centered by five tiny litt...

Classy Mexican Deco silver and amethyst brooch signed by Fred Davis, there is something about the sculpturality of this piece that makes me think it might be a Valentin Vidaurreta design. It is not just the specific shape the amethyst flowers have been carved in that can be seen in signed Vidaurreta jewelry, it is mostly the bewitching rotundness of the silver bud that makes me think so. The epitome of Mexico City 1930s design in which it's not the multitude or complexity of elements that create...

Early and gorgeous Matilde Poulat sterling silver and coral bracelet in one of her iconic designs, the "paloma". This is classic Matl with the bird rendered in textured repoussage, its wings open, ready to fly away. The dove is surrounded by coral cabochons both bezel- and channel-set while small pieces of branch coral adorn the links of the chain. I find the relative "minimalism" (speaking for Matl, of course) in the use of one stone only quite refreshing and soothing to the eye as opposed to t...
