Very strong, outstanding design in this mid-century sterling pin by Taxco artist Sigi Pineda. Many design elements of shapes and overlapping planes, this three dimensional pin measures 1 3/4" by 1 7/8". It is in fine original condition and hallmarked for vintage Sigi as shown in the photo. This piece is the kind of design for which Sigi is best known.

A donkey doll motif. Pre assay 1930's or 40's hand chased repousse donkey burro tested silver pin with MEXICO mark and the cutest round face big headed punk haired donkey doll! So it has an overbite and no chin, it is so kee-oot!. Must have.
The native peoples are known to make dolls in the shape of their local animals for their children to play.

Based in Mexico City Plateria FarFan created some of the most impressive and well-made collar necklaces, many in the multi-row "mesh" style and others in puzzle “Cleopatra style” designs. I love these Mexican Deco "berries-on-a-branch" brooches! They are big and impressive and the berries come in different colors depending on the kind of agate used. I am always on the look-out for the best examples, the ones in which the silver branches are hefty and interestingly entwined and the berries made of good quality stone, rich in striations and color-variation...

Vintage hand wrought sterling silver stuffing or serving spoon designed and signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The name of Plateria Cortes, a Taxco retail store is often found on jewelry signed by Enrique Ledesma and this is the case with the modernist sterling silver and green stone necklace at hand. This type of curved trapezoid links embellished with inlay is a signature design for the maestro yet here there are two sections of stone in each station which is a welcome variation that does not come up as often as the typical single segment...

An early Taxco maestro, Manuel Altamirano worked for both Aguilar and Valentin Vidaurreta. With the former, he shares what has come to be known as the "armadillo" parure, out of which you can see here the quite impressive belt buckle. Playful and fun this detailed pair of silver cufflinks was designed and signed c.1940's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Each frog measures 3/4" long. A huge, beautifully made vintage Mexican sterling articulated fish pendant c1950s-60s. This fabulous 5-3/8" x 1-3/4" pendant is set with inlaid turquoise and it has a turquoise cabochon eye; each vertebra in the skeleton is linked to the next segment with silver loops and each piece bends independently. Beautiful and rare sterling and carved obsidian mask bracelet by Abraham Paz,c.1930 .
