Unadulterated commitment to minimalism - this is the statement this Antonio Pineda modernist bracelet makes. I have sold this specific design a couple of times in the past but its unpretentious beauty never fails to impress me. Wrought in the maestro's favorite .970 alloy, it has had a long, happy life and is now waiting for its next caretaker. It has a 6 3/4" inner circumference (clasped) with a width just shy of 1" wide and weighs a good 110.4 grams...

This pin offers a bold design with an oxidized, textured surface and recessed center. The rounded edge is decorated with applied half-beads. There is a silver mark for Poland on the pin stem, but the mark is partial so doesn’t indicate city of assay or silver content. The piece is from the 1960s-1970s, is sturdy and exhibits a lustrous surface; the catch is formed from a wide band into an updated C-clasp. It measures 2 ¼ inches long by 1 ½ inches wide. A huge, beautifully made vintage Mexican sterling articulated fish pendant c1950s-60s. This fabulous 5-3/8" x 1-3/4" pendant is set with inlaid turquoise and it has a turquoise cabochon eye; each vertebra in the skeleton is linked to the next segment with silver loops and each piece bends independently. It has a large bale for hanging and three round holes resembling a fish spine (no turquoise there, nor was there, and the interior of these holes has black patination)...

The name of Plateria Cortes, a Taxco retail store is often found on jewelry signed by Enrique Ledesma and this is the case with the modernist sterling silver and green stone necklace at hand. This type of curved trapezoid links embellished with inlay is a signature design for the maestro yet here there are two sections of stone in each station which is a welcome variation that does not come up as often as the typical single segment...

A smashing sterling wrap bracelet with a gold wash and wire wrapped green quartz by Modernist Arthur King. King had a shop on Madison Avenue in New York City in the 1960's. His pieces are scarce and his collectors are fierce at auctions. This remarkable piece is a tiny sculpture measuring 2" wide top to bottom at the stone and 1" wide in the back. It is 7 1/2" around in the inside and weighs 81 grams. Fine original condition and signed as shown. Brilliant!

A very special William Spratling bracelet of rosewood and sterling dots. This combination of materials became a popular one for him and one can find rings, candle sticks, salt and pepper shakers,trays and other items of similar design. A very difficult design to find, Margot de Taxco's no 5384 is sheer geometry and a celebration of dark, rich oxidation. It is understandable then that I feel fortunate to have come upon the extra-wide hinged bracelet from the parure. Raised sterling bands around the perimeter of the cut-out design lend three-dimensional appeal which is further accentuated by the black surfaces they define...

A rare and beautiful sterling and onyx cuff by William Spratling. Magnificent worn with either the onyx centered scrolls in the front or the large diamond shape panel in the front. Measuring 5 3/4" around in the inside with a 1 1/2" opening, it is 1 3/4" wide in the diamond shape area and tapers to 3/4" at the scrolls. It weighs 72 grams and is not adjustable. Suitable for a man or woman, it is in fine original condition and hallmarked with the WS mark and eagle 30 dating it 1964-67...

Antonio Pineda cuffs don't surface very often and this specific design is even more difficult to find. An ode to the art of a-symmetry, the cuff is wrought in the maestro's favorite fine ,.970 alloy and quite substantial. The stone that adorns its widest end, rich in greens and blues, is agate, I think, but it might be a very special kind of turquoise as well. Warm patina, perfectly conveyed less-is-more attitude and Antonio's exquisite finishing are all present here to please the eye...

It's almost the middle of August but this vintage Antonio Pineda brooch makes me think of leaves twirling in the wind filling the world with the fiery golds and reds of Fall. Eagle 22, one of the assay marks used by Fred Davis, is stamped on the bracelet at hand and its design combined with the fact that Davis was not at all meticulous at signing his pieces makes me believe that we might as well be dealing here with one of this creations.
