A pair of unique three part tokkuri by Taniguchi Chojiro consisting of a top, which turned upside down forms the cup, a central ring on which the cup rests, and the bottle, which, when assembled, make the form of a temple bell. These are made after the infamous bell of Hokoji Temple which provided (a rather lame) excuse for Tokugawa Ieyasu to crush the Toyotomi family and claim the country for his own, therefore beginning the Tokugawa Dynasty which ruled Japan for over 250 years...

A rare pair Korean badges for a civil official, dating to the Choson period. Embroidered in multicolored silks on blue figured silk with two cranes flying with a stalk of sacred fungus amidst clouds, above a taihu rock and waves. Bordered with gold wrapped thread. Glued on cardboard and mounted in antique wooden European frames. Condition: fine, slightly faded and few loose threads. Dimension: 24.8 cm x 23.1 (with frame), badges: approx. 22.5 cm x 21 cm.

A white ink Jun Sekino signature is at the lower right. Paper: 12 1/8"V x 24 7/8"H (image: 9 3/8"V x 22 1/8"H). There is a mat burn line and some soiling evident in the margins. Comprising a censer, 2 vases and 4 cabdlesticks. The censer and the two candlesticks in the center belong together, the other items were matched. H. Between 18 and 21 cm. Condition: the censer and the two candlesticks in the center are in a very good condition, even the separate handles of the censer are intact. The other two candlesticks and one of the vases have repairs to the corners. This set came from a Dutch private collection and was brought together in Beijing in the nineties...

A superb 19th century hanging moon Vase of caramel bronze gilded inside entrrely with gold and enclosed in a custom kiri-wood period box titled Kara-kin Gekkei Hanaire (gilded Chinese-Bronze Vase). In this case the word Chinese does not indicate it being manufactured in China, but using a mixture of bronze based on Chinese origins. It is quite large at 14 inches (36 cm) diameter and comes with the original chain and insert for hanging and display of flowers...
