Ewer with a straight round body shape with a flat shoulder and set on splayed foot. There opposite shoulder tip of spout and handle. Part of the body is decorated with a flower chrysanthemum. On the shoulder there is a key decoration fret or thunder pattern border. The lower part of the body to the feet decorated with early - type petal lappets and diamond diaper border. Perfect condition, no chips, cracks, or hairlines and free from restorations. Measure 10 cm wide and 9.5 high.

The exterior of the deep rounded sides carved with a band of petals rising from the foot to the flat everted rim, and the interior decorated in the center with two molded fish, covered overall with a glaze of guan type sea-green tone except for the foot rim burnt reddish-brown in the firing 14.5 cm diam. Virabhadra, incarnation of Shiva, is often depicted in solid bronze plaques. This one however is remarkably fine, with its delicate openwork. It dates from the 16th century, possibly earlier and was made in West India. It has a warm brown patina and appropriate age wear. There is a very old repair just above the small figure on the left. Height 26 cm (the sculpture), 32 cm including the stand.

Vajradhara or Dorje Chang in Tibetan is the ultimate primordial Buddha or Adi Buddha according to the Gelug and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This fine example is from Tibet or possibly from Nepal. It is well proportioned and has very nice facial features. Please note the fine engraving on the back of the figure.
