This is one of the finest and prettiest dessert services I have had. It is early, first half of the 19th century, and has various botanical scenes painted on each of the plates and service pieces. Consisting of 12 large dessert plates, 2 oval serving plates, one sauce tureen with cover and a fabulous comport on stand. The set is a beautiful shade of pink on a white ground and to the center are hand painted botanical decorations, different for each piece. The handles are classical in design a... Click for details

A beautifully modeled pair of Staffordshire zebra spill vases C1840. These were used as mantle decorations in the 19th Century and were probably inspired by the traveling fairs that were part of English 19th Century life. Very few people had seen a zebra, or traveled to where one could be seen, most people stayed within 30 miles of their village. But these fairs could and did bring exotic animals to the countryside, and were eagerly awaited. Staffordshire figures were made, inspired by the po... Click for details

English Ironstone milk pitcher with polychrome chinoiserie decoration. Marked "Opaque China" with maker's monogram. The term Opaque China was used by several early 19th century makers. A jug with an identical pattern appears in Coysh and Henrywood's "Blue and White Printed Pottery" vol. 1, color plate V with maker's mark of Lockett and Hulme. The monogram on this piece does not appear to be an L and H. I believe it is a J and G, possibly for the potters John and George Lockett 1802-1805 or anoth... Click for details
