This is a particularly charming little jug of glazed, buff colored stoneware, with relief molded cats on parade. On one side there are three cats, the one in the foreground holding a banner. The others appear to have a garland in their hands, each one in single file, holding a portion of it. All on their hind legs with ribbons on their necks. Very, very cute piece! Three inches high, in excellent condition with no flaws not in the making. Mid 19th century.

They have on the undersides the verse "Mondays child is fair of face. Tuesdays child is full of grace. Wednesdays child is full of woe. Thursdays child has far to go. Fridays child is loving and giving. Saturdays child works hard for a living. But the child born on the Sabbath day, is fair and wi... Click for details
