This studio vase is by the well known artist Horst Kerstan. He studied with Richard Bampi in Kandern and then took over his studio when Bampi died in 1965. The glazes on this piece are fabulous; not just he rich colors but the contrast between the matte and the shinier glazes. It is in excellent condition and signed on the bottom Kerstan (incised signature). It measures 4 1/4" tall and is 13 inches in circumference at the widest.

They came in different sizes and shapes but all have this sgraffito decoration that just screams 1960s. The one listed here is 10 3/4 inches tall. The base is unmarked and the piece is in excellent condition. I have a smaller vase in this design listed too (item 967).

This art deco pottery bowl is in the German Spritzdekor style that was popular from the late 1920s to the mid 1930s.
