Opaque white, French Opaline, hinged Casket with ornate gold-plated metal mounts, and nice working clasp. In some lighting, the opaline has a lovely, very slight green cast. Most of the gilding has worn away; one small chip on back left corner, two encased inclusions -- very tiny, pinpoint black front lower left, and small white inclusion above back mount (pictured). Offered here is a fine pair of 19th century opaline vases with gilt enamel decoration in a foliage and bee motif. The vases are seated on a marble base with gilt metal ram head mounts. The enameling has some wear where they were handled over the years, but it isn't much, and is not objectionable.
