This is an enchanting little stand. It is papier mache with inlaid mother of pearl. The rose blossoms are entirely mother of pearl, the stems and leaves and thorns are hand painted. The interior of the box is newly lined in an ivory silk fabric with batting behind it. The base is wood with hand painted designs, and papier mache and it stands on metal paw feet. Large Oval Papier Mache Tray

This is a large and beautiful tray, hand made in the earlier part of the 20th century using the same or similar designs and same methods used to make these gorgeous trays in the 18th and 19th centuries. I have three of these made by the same person (whose name I do not know), and this is the first of the three. This tray is approximately 19" by 24" and is in nearly perfect condition.
