This fabulous drawstring reticule is adorned with garlands of red beads and terminates with a cluster of several loops of beads. Lined with a black silky material, it is in excellent condition and a great party purse.

At an almost square 47" by 49", this amazing and gorgeous textile just screams Art Deco. It has a dark gold metallic border trim that is also laid on at angles on three corners. The geometric abstract print has a beautiful sheen. It appears to be a silk and cotton or rayon blend, and it's backed in bisque-colored cotton sateen. The condition is excellent, but there are a few slightly worn spots, as shown in photo, that do not detract from the piece.

This purse is a perfect example of a beaded scenic bag made in Austria in the mid 1800's. The bag has great detail and a variety of colors. The purse measures approximately 10 1/2" long, from hte frame to the bottom of the fringe, by 6 3/4" wide. It features an embossed frame with a plunger and pull closure, and faux pearls with swan accents on the frame. This Whiting & Davis Piccadilly fine soldered mesh bag dates to the early 1920's. The purse has an adjustable wrist strap, a tiny mirror, and a great little compartment for lip rouge or face powder. It also features a sapphire colored glass closure on the beautifully embossed frame. I have never had a purse like this and it is a great find. A combination of gold, silver, pewter,brown and copper metallic threads woven into a lovely design, I'm not sure tapestry is even the right term to describe this. This fine Whiting & Davis mesh purse has a lovely palette of deep reds, blues, greens and oranges - very impressionistic! Very striking looking early 20th century purse. The amber beads on a black knit background make for a dramatic contrast and the beaded pattern itself is lovely.
