This is an amazing 18th century Aubusson fragment from either a canape or larger tapestry that was trimmed down. It measures 30" tall by 25.5" wide. The content is centered and symmetrical depicting a garden structure. The colors are dramatic and quite crisp for the age of the textile. There are some small repairs and the piece is backed with a mushroom colored velvet with velvet rings for hanging. A 19th century bullion border was added and the look is perfect. A wonderful and intricate Georgian embroidered hair and silk picture on silk, depicting a horse grazing under a tree before a country house. Incredible detail and shading of the trees and distant landscape – there’s even a church or monastery in the distance. There’s a large split to the silk in the sky, running from the upper left corner to the tree on the right; there’s a tiny split above the cross. Beautiful 200 year old example of a lost art! A large and complex Georgian embroidered hair picture on silk, depicting a figure (reading a book!) reclining before a ruin. Incredible detail and shading of the ruins and surrounding landscape. Some splits to the silk in the sky; one repair in the bushes, and some loose threads, but a great 200 year old example of a lost art! Measures 16 ½” by 13 ½”; sight size 14” by10 ¾”.

An oval English mourning silkwork picture, circa 1800, depicting a trail of flowers over a Regency urn and a weeping willow tree, in a gilt frame. Lovely colors and stitchery. Very good condition; some dirt caught under the glass. Measures 16” by 13”; sight size 13 ¼” by 10 ½”. Back of frame is open in the center to reveal a rarely seen glimpse of its making.
