Horses and cats floating around fleurs-de-lis, all anchored by stars in the corners, make an unlikely but very successful composition. Beautiful, soft colors. Cotton; has been professionally wet cleaned. Measures 30" x 43". Finely done repairs are visible on the back only as shown in the thumbnail photo; virtually invisible on the front. Maryland origin; circa 1920.

It's interesting how the basic Nine Patch block can be set to form a chain pattern as well. Blocks are nicely proportioned to the child size quilt. One block includes a different indigo print from the rest of the quilt. Circa 1880; Pennsylvania. Measures 35" x 44".
