Great carving in this floral motif clip. The back reveals that it was once olive in color, and time has turned it to a nice warm brown. The clip has a patent number, long, and difficult to read. 2 1/4" long, 1 1/2" wide.

This sassy scottie silhouette is typical of the early Bakelite days. Scotties were a popular breed then, partly because of Franklin Roosevelt's little scottie Fala. This little butterscotch guy measures 2 3/8" nose to tail and 2 1/8" ear to paw.3/16" thick.

*So* Art Deco, this chic antique pin from a European collection is crafted of black and white galalith - the French Bakelite (which looks the same but doesn't test). Besides the figure's boldly contrasting feathers and beak, it gains interest from a pert diamond rhinestone accent stone. A large piece, measuring 2 1/2" x 2", it's in lovely condition. The present pinback is probably not original, but works fine and has the benefit of a strong safety clasp. Likely dating would be late 1920s.... Click for details
