French Art Nouveau sterling moonstone ring, circa 1900. I will begin by saying that the quality of this stone is exceptional and certainly gem quality. It has a large cabachon cut which gives the moonstone its magical adularescence, or sheen. It is large, measuring 3/4 inches long x 5/8 across and has a distinctive teardrop shape. The clear, blue moonstone is void of any inclusions.

A Theodor Fahrner art nouveau necklace set with chrysoprase and mother of pearl. Jugendstil (youth style) was the German interpretation of the French Art Nouveau. Three heart shaped repousse leaves surround the oval chrysoprase. These are interspersed with three smaller elements of mother of pearl and a small silver flower. It is marked on the rear with the TF in a circle and 800 for silver content. The chain is marked 835. The pendant is 2 1/4 x 1 5/8ths. The necklace hangs 11 3/4 inches. It i... Click for details

This lovely art nouveau silver necklace is set with a chrysoprase stone. This is from Germany, where the Art Nouveau movement was known as Jugendstil and had it's own identity that was also influenced by the British Arts & Crafts movement of the time. The flowers and leaves are wonderfully modeled (see detail photos). The rear is marked for 800 silver and a very distinct makers mark which is Martin Mayer of Mainz, a contemporary of Fahrner. The final number I assume to be an inventory or pattern... Click for details

Incredible art nouveau silver and enamel necklace set with a large oval mother of pearl. At first glance, you might think this is Scandinavian but it's marked for 800 silver and it's most likely German or Austrian. The long oval pendant is 2" long (including the bale) and 1 inch wide. The chain is 17 inches. The large MOP is nicely offset by the open work of the contrasting silver and the blue enamel. It is marked 800 and has a maker's mark of a circle. Both marks appear on the back of the penda... Click for details

A vintage art nouveau silver gem set ring from Germany, where art nouveau was known as Jugendstil. The ring is gilded silver and it's overall impression is of gold but on close inspection one can see where some of the gilding has worn. The rectangular shaped top has rounded edges, pierce work and the puffed, repousse leaf shapes often seen in Jugdendstil jewelry. The ring, despite it's elaborate decoration has a light and open design due to the scrollwork and open spaces throughout the setting. ... Click for details

This is a fine and delicate hand hammered sterling necklace with a gold wash by Jo Michels. Michels, a New York City jeweler in the 1940s and 1950s, usually produced round or oval repoussé pieces so this necklace is unusual for her. When on the neck, the leaves look like they have just dropped from the tree and landed. The paper clip chain from which the leaves are suspended is the perfect compliment. It measures 16 1/2" end to end and is 1 1/4" wide at the center dangling leaf. Fine original co... Click for details

Lovely, silver Jugendstil brooch or pin; Jugendstil was the German equivalent of Art Nouveau though as with all Art Nouveau contemporaneous movements it had it's own national characteristics. This piece utilizes negative space to showcase the fluidity of the flowers and leaves to create a sense of movement. The use of repousse (pushing the metal out from behind to create a 3 dimensional surface) contributes to this sense. Though either side of the large central dividing leaf are somewhat differe...
