A striking silver and obsidian parure by Hector Aguilar consisting of the necklace, matching bracelet and screwback earrings. Scrolling "s" silver shape created out of hand hammered, cut and polished silver. Beautiful handmade, intricate links around the back of the necklace. The necklace scroll links are slightly smaller on the 'top' to ensure that the piece articulates well on the wearer's neck. Obsidian accents are smooth as glass and uniform in color/hue. Spectacular designer sterling silver and black onyx necklace. It is 16.5"long and over 1" wide. Fully hallmarked Mexico 925, TC or TG-264. This elegant necklace is in very good condition and weights 148 grams, or 5+ oz.

Margot de Taxco Silver Bracelet with Capricorn Pendant

Sterling silver bracelet and Capricorn disc done by Margot de Taxco as part of her astrology series. The pendants are usually found singly; they are not often seen with the matching Margot bracelet. Disc is 1 1/2" in diameter. Bracelet is 1/2" wide and at least 8" in length (guard makes it difficult to measure precisely). Both bracelet and disc are fully hallmarked. Circa 1950.

Heavy, elegant demi-parure by Hector Aguilar. Composed of the necklace (of silver and obsidian) and the bracelet (of silver and onyx). Soft, hand-polished and rounded edges. Repeating semi-spherical, geometric link design interspersed with hand carved, bezel set obsidian and onyx. Fully and correctly hallmarked for Hector Aguilar. A similar design can be found in "Silver Masters of Mexico." Lovely, rare set.

His workshop , Piedra Y Plata, opened in 1950, was considered by his peers to be one of the best silver shops in Taxco. This magnificent set is featured on page 189 of the book MEXICAN SILVER by Morrill and Berk. They date is c. 1955. The necklace measures 16 1/2" end to end and is 1 1/4" wide. The cuff is 2 3/4" wide, 5 1/4" around in the inside with a 1 1/4" opening and weighs 202 grams. The matching earrings are 2 1/4" long and 5/8" wide.
