This gorgeous pendant on a silver neck ring was made by Kultasepat Salovaara, a Finnish design firm and carries their unusual mark of a polar bear on an ice floe. The curvilinear pendant is 2 1/8 inches long and set with a gorgeous 15mm labradorite cabachon that has a glowing iridescence. Labradorite is native to Finland and will often be found in modernist pieces. The neckring is 15 inches around and very comfortable to wear. From the same collection as the other Jensen pieces that I have been offering, this is a magnificent, hand hammered, sterling and amber Art Nouveau bracelet by Georg Jensen Denmark. There are 4 large ovals of amber bezel set with surrounding silver beadwork, alternating with beetle shaped silver links that have small rounds of bezel set amber on both top and bottom of the link. The color of the amber is dazzling. One of the large amber ovals is the clasp so the bracelet looks continuous when clos... Click for details

Dear reader, you should know I nearly went blind deciphering these marks even with a 20x loupe but mystery solved. First, this is a lovely and typically Scandinavian silver pendant comprised of 10 conjoined circles with long dangles suspended from the bottom row. The dimensions are 3 1/4 long (from top of bail to bottom of dangle) x just over one inch. The condition is great. The marks on the back are: makers mark for Kultateollisuus Ky, 830H (silver content), town mark for Turku, Finnish contro... Click for details

This lovely ring by the enamelist Grete Prytz Kittelsen was designed for the Tostrup firm in 1952 with whom her family had a long alliance. She won the Lunning prize the same year. This piece exemplifies her goal of producing less laborious pieces and is made of one piece of silver that was then bent, not soldered into place. Excellent condition, marked underneath "Sterling, J.Tostrup, Norway". The ring is a size 7 but the ends of the shank overlap so there is a little room to expand or decreas... Click for details

Another work of art from Bjorn Weckstrom and part of his Flame Bronze series that was only produced between 1971 and 1979. All of these pieces have unusual patinas, with this one featuring a purple cast to it. Though the shank is open in the back it does not seem to yield (to my hands anyway!) so it is a size 5.5 and is 42 mm long and about 17 mm wide. Inside it is marked, "Lapponia, BW, Finland". Fabulous looking piece.

This is a classy looking ring made by the Finnish design team Sten & Laine (Hans and Karl respectively). It has a great oval sort of ying/yang design with a substantial faceted crystal (c.8mm) and a striated design around the bezel. Inside the shanks are the Sten & Laine makers mark, 925, and Z7 for 1977. In the front of the shank there is also a faint KL (for Karl Laine). Currently a size 7, it could be sized up or down slightly as the ends of the shank meet but are not soldered. Great conditio... Click for details
