As I list this pin, I can honestly state it is only the second of this design I have had the pleasure to sell. It is Scottish, circa 1880 and among the finest I have owned. It is designed as a Celtic knot utilizing agates cut and finely inlaid in silver. The striated agates create a sense of movement in keeping with the sweep of the design. The brooch is modern in its simplicity, and is completely original including the mounts. The condition is pristine. It measures 2 1/2 inches across x 1 3/8 ... Click for details

This Scottish brooch is circa 1860. Certainly this is one of the most beautiful and rare forms of a lovers knot, signifying endless love. It has a mellow blend of agates, superior hand engraving, and perfect form. The center of the knot is a faceted claw set citrine. The brooch measures 2 inches and retains all original mounts. It is in excellent condition.

Antique Scottish jewelry abounds in traditional, ceremonial forms which have been used for centuries. Worn on the tartans, the jewelry is strikingly beautiful and unique in design.
This brooch is considered a figural, one that was designed for the women, not for the traditional tartans worn by the men. Therefore, there were fewer made and finding one is always a pleasure. ... Click for details

Charming Victorian silver cello pin is an example of the novelty jewelry that was so popular in the mid Victorian era. While sporting and insect brooches are most common to see, musical instruments, boats, typewriters, arrows, etc. were all produced. This cello brooch has separately attached wire strings and is 2" x 5/8" of an inch. Unmarked for silver content it tests at 800 silver. See also item 558 for a sterling silver and gold banjo pin (also seen in third image).

This wonderful pin is by Mary Gage, an American Arts and Crafts silversmith. She worked in Greenwich Village during the 1940's and was quite prolific during her long lifetime. Her work was quite distinctive and reflected her travels to the Orient. This pin is typical of her work and features a cabachon rock crystal surrounded by water lilies. The reverse has her trademark twists of silver creating a distinctive back. The pin is in excellent, all original condition. It measures 2 inches round. Th... Click for details

This sterling silver Mizpah pin is a great example of the sentimentality of the period. Mizpah, (a Hebrew word which literally means "watchtower") means "May The Lord watch between me and thee while we are absent one from another." This pin comprised of two hearts joined by oak leaves (symbolic of faith and virtue) has the above phrase engraved on one heart. It is 1 1/2 inches wide by 3/4 of an inch high. In excellent condition and highly collectible. Hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham, t... Click for details

This is an incredibly beautiful piece, with finely detailed embossed decorations. The entire bracelet is constructed with a backsheet for more support and to avoid denting. It is unmarked but tests positively for sterling silver. The central element of overlapping flowers and leaves is 1 5/16 x 1 1/4. The bracelet length is 7 inches, diameter is 2 1/2 and there is a safety chain. I think this bracelet is probably of the mid Victorian period, c. 1860-1880.
