This is a rare sterling Scottish brooch, circa 1860 . It is not rare in theme, being a loveknot, but in its design. It has the celtic knot symbolizing everlasting love, a popular theme, but the use of the agates make it most unusual. The appearance is a weave achieved by the blend of the agates. It is a trick of the eye and the illusion was expertly orchestrated. Each agate having mellow shading is inlaid and chosen precisely to achieve the affect of the weave. This French silver necklace is circa 1900. It is called a St. Esprit popularized by the French peasantry and symbolizing the spirit of God in the form of a dove. This necklace is sterling and has beautiful bright pastes in a floral motif framing the central section. This motif is also present in the bottom section which articulates. This is one of the best antique cuff bracelets I have offered for sale. It is circa 1860 and has both a wonderful concept of design and execution. This period of design is called the Aesthetic Movement,which had its origins in the trade agreement with Japan in 1854. 19th C Deep Odd carved double light as a feather jet coal bead earrings w sterling ear hooks.
