A miniature portrait of a hauntingly beautiful woman, in watercolor on ivory, circa 1760-1780. Her long black hair is down; she wears a décolleté gown trimmed with lace. She’s set in a 14k gold frame, originally a bracelet clasp but converted at an early date to a brooch clasp. There’s some mold on the interior of the glass, visible under magnification, and a split on the reverse near the hinge. Measures 1 ¼” by 1”.

This is a handsome oil on board, probably dating to the early 20th century, although the painting has an earlier look. It is framed in a new 2" frame. It looks like a European property and the figures are in 19th century dress. The horses are very well painted, and it is an attractive painting throughout. The size is 18" by 24", not including the frame. The painting is signed, but it is not legible (see the last enlargement).
