Very dramatic subject of frightened horses fleeing a fire. Oil on board, dating to probably early 20th century, though it could be earlier. The frame is newer, but still is 20 to 30 years old I believe. The painting is well done, the horses quite realistically frightened of the fire approaching out of the upper left corner. Offered here is a small, interesting little painting of men pulling there nets under the moonlight. The painting is oil on board, in good condition with some craquelure to the surface. An interesting portrait of a scholar studying his charts. A globe is by his side, book at hand, an instrument in his hand, symbols in the book he is studying. The painting is not quite as dark as I'm afraid it appears in the pictures, and more detail is obvious in person. The painting is not signed, is late 19th century, and in a new frame. The size is 18.5" by 14.5" in the frame. The sight dimensions are 12" by 8".
