This oil painting by Loren Entz measures 16" wide by 12" tall, and is titled "Playing Hookey." Loren Entz presents a unique picture of the West. Whereas many Western artists focus on the more adventurous aspects of the historical West and modern ranch life, Loren paints the quieter, more domestic side of rural life. His paintings often depict the simple moments that make up the fabric of everyday life – mothers with their children, a father holding an infant at the end of the hard day’s work.

Here we have a wonderful oil painting of a Southern landscape. The location could be Florida, Mississippi or Louisiana, of course it looks like Florida to me. It depicts cypress trees around a spring, or it could be a little tributary off one of the many rivers that flow through our land. It is very well painted, with wonderful filtered light through the trees. The water, smooth as glass, reflects perfectly the canopy above. The painting is not signed, although the name KUHNE is signed on t... Click for details

This is an interesting 20th century abstract painting with hidden figures throughout the painting. At first glance it looks like a simple floral motif with splashes of vibrant color. Up closed you can see faces, bodies, even a young boy on a horse that have been inked in or on the surface, which gives the painting a slightly surreal or even dreamy quality that's quite nice. The painting is signed "Nori", was done sometime around the 70s in my opinion. The size is 22" by 29" in a gilt wood fr... Click for details

This very interesting painting was painted in 1907 at the Magdelena-Vieja, about 3 miles West of Lima, Peru. It depicts on of the shrines found throughout South America known as Cruce de Mayo, so called because of the custom of changing the draperies on the arms of the cross in the first week of May. The white dot at the foot of the cross is a skull. It was apparently fairly commonplace to find skulls, and it was customary to place them at the foot of the cross. The hole at the bottom was to b...
