A rare offering; Chinese Pith Paintings, set of eight (8), handpainted, unframed, and in their own original, handmade box with a Glass "lid" covered on the sides with Chinese silk. These beautiful, highly detailed miniature original paintings of Chinese Children at Play, are on pith paper...pith is the spongy substance inside of plants...which the Chinese extracted and made into "paper." A buffalo skull with colorful background in watercolor and gouache on paper by William Alexander Gaw. An American artist who lived 1891-1973. It is signed on the lower right hand side, William A. Gaw. The painting measures 10 1/2" by 13 1/2" of what you can see. It is framed and in very good condition.

This is a lively piece, done in, what appears to be, acrylic paint and pastels on vivid pink paper. The colors are fabulous. It is signed, Kimsey, in the lower right corner. It was painted around 1960-1975 in my opinion, and I believe the artist is now deceased. I was told he was a listed artist, but I have not been able to find his name in my source books.
