Very Appealing Dog Sculpture

This is a handsome dog with a very appealing face. I do not know what kind of dog it is. He is iron, well sculpted and, I believe, rather old. I will venture that he is late 19th century. The sculpture is 6 1/2" by 2 1/2" and he is approximately 3" high.
