A very finely potted semi eggshell porcelain cup and saucer beautifully painted in underglaze blue with bamboo in a typically asymetric Japanese style. There is a 10 character mark to the base of each. A very unusual Japanese vase made from a light coloured pottery or stoneware in what is sometimes included in the Banko style. It is moulded with halo'ed immortals in reserves on a basket work ground.Probably made in the 2nd half of the C19th., it stands 5 5/8inches (14.2 cms) high. There is wear to the enamels and minor chips.

Very rare Tang Dynasty semi transparent whitish glazed on white stoneware body cosmetic box. I have seen very few of these, most Tang pieces of this type are ovoid jars. Both halves of this piece are perfectly “matched and married”. There is a long chip on the lower mouthrim and minor hairline (both noted in enlargements), as well as some fritting on the surface (approximately 10% to20%), which is very typical for this sort of ware.
