It is 8" high, 7" in diameter and has a nicely burnished orange slip, which is decorated with fine negative resist painted designs, a rare feature. A superb Vicus polychrome bird vessel from Peru, ca. 200 BC - 200 AD. It is 8-1/4" long and is painted in cream and black over the red slip, using both positive and negative resist technique. The eyes are appliqués and the beak is incised. An exceptional example, showing good deposits. In excellent condition, with tiny repair to tip of beak.

A fine Cajamarca tripod bowl from Peru, ca. 200 - 800 AD. This thin-walled beauty has a 5-3/8" diameter, is finished with the traditional cream kaolin slip and is decorated inside and out with characteristic designs incorporating the Vizcacha (chinchilla) motif. The interior is in excellent condition, the exterior is a little pitted, which is typical of the type.

A superb Maternal Figure from the Chancay culture of Peru, ca. 1200 - 1450 AD. She is 8" high, posed seated, cradling the baby in her arms, which are resting on the drawn-up knees. She is lavishly adorned with a fancy necklace, wide belt and facial tattoos. She also carries a nicely decorated bag, suspended by a strap around her forehead. Beautifully detailed and in exceptional condition.

A beautiful Moche III vessel from Peru, ca. 200 - 450 AD. It is 7-1/4" high and depicts the Sacred Mountains. This important Moche motif is always presented in the form of the San Pedro cactus, as shamans would go to the mountains to consume it. It is detailed in red over the highly burnished orange-cream slip and is in exceptional condition.

A rare Proto-Nazca trophy head from Peru, ca. 50 - 150 AD. This exceptional polychrome piece has a 5-1/2" diameter. It features the peregrine falcon eyes and is decorated with braided hair. The nose and ears are formed in relief and the paint is strong. A couple of chips and a little crack, else in fine condition. Rare example.

A remarkable Nayarit Birthing scene, ca. 300 BC - 300 AD. The sculpture is 5-1/2" long and depicts a mother in the process of giving birth. She is shown holding her head, while reclining on a pallet, with her head resting on a cushion. The baby's head is already protruding. The figure is finished with a white kaolin slip, which retains much of its reddish paint and shows good deposits. A wonderful rarity in excellent condition.

A nice Nazca flared bowl from Peru, ca. 100 - 400 AD. This thin-walled vessel is 4-1/4" high, has a 4-1/2" diameter and is painted with a traditional pepper motif, executed in orange, red, white and black. A couple of professionally repaired cracks are not visible to the naked eye. Nice example.
