A bronze amulet in the form the god Osiris in typical standing mummiform pose holding the crook and flail and wearing the plumed crown.
Osiris (in Greek) was king of the Underworld and originally a god of agriculture and nature. His origin is disputed and he first appeared during dynasty five. In Heliopolis he was said to be the son of Re and the representation of the dead king. Minor gods were taken into his vast cult and many legends were told about him. The common Myth of Osiris is about his... Click for details

A finely moulded green glazed faience amulet representing the goddess Neith with excellent detailed features.
The goddess Neith is shown in striding pose wearing the Red Crown of Lower Egypt. Good depictions of this deity are quite scarce.
Neith was the predynastic goddess of war and weaving, the goddess of the Red Crown of Lower Egypt and the patron goddess of Zau (Sau, Sai, Sais) in the Delta. In later times she was also thought to have been an androgynous demiurge - a creation deity - who h... Click for details

A fine Roman bronze patera handle decorated with the head of a ram to the finial. The ram's head is well defined with excellent detailing. The handle itself is cast with fluted column-like decoration. The base of the handle is also finely incised with a foliate pattern.
The patera was a small shovel used during religious rites, probably for scooping incense or coals onto the altar in a temple.
Bowl lost, otherwise in super condition with a really lovely red and green glossy patina.

A white marble head of a male with a long thick beard and ivy garlands in the hair.
The ivy decoration to the hair indicated that this sculpture represents a Bacchanalian character and we believe that it is either a head of Bacchus, the god of wine, or Silenos, his drunken attendant and mentor. The refined features and lack of obvious indicators such as a "pug nose" or exaggerated forehead would suggest that this is not Silenos.
A repair to the top right corner, otherwise intact but worn. Quit... Click for details

A Roman heavy cast bronze furniture or chariot attachment in the form of a female bust.
The female figure is depicted with a draped bust and her head tilted slightly to the left. Her hair is arranged in a central parting with her hair falling over her shoulders to the rear. She also wears a diadem.
The rectangular box to the back is pierced horizontally on either side and once in the upper surface, presumably for the insertion of metal rods to attach the protome to a wooden beam or plank.

A lovely burnished pottery wool-spinning counter-weight (spindle whorl) with incised decoration.
The base is incised with three groups of parallel curved lines separated by groups of five short strokes. The lower part of the body is incised with five horizontal bands, the upper part appears to almost "swirl" with groups of incised diagonal curved lines radiating from the top.
An unusual and wonderfully aesthetic object.
Cyprus, Early Bronze Age, 2700 - 2200 BC
Intact, areas of surface wear.

A well modelled pottery head from a female figure, probably Aphrodite.
The face is sharply detailed with strong features. The hair is arranged in a "melon type coiffure" with the back areas left undecorated. She wears a pair of round earrings.
The head is formed from a solid ball of clay, the core being dark grey.
Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty.
Greek, Hellenistic, c. 1st Century BC.
