An accordion-paged book with traditional handmade yellow paper, this book contains thirty-eight pages inscribed on both sides in black and red ink. Each page measures 8-1/4 by 3-1/4 inches. Twenty-two of the pages are divided in half with a yantra on the left and text on the right.

Tied together with a cord or string this type amulet could be worn by men or women from the neck or the waist. This kind of amulet or gau was widely used in both Tibet and in Nepal among its Tibetan Buddhist peoples. The calligraphy on the front represents the syllables of the mantra "om mani padme hum". Above that is a sun/moon combination. A lotus base holds the mantra and it is surrounded by stylized clouds.

A 17th century dorje (thunderbolt of enlightenment) Buddhist ritual object of a dark color with some green encrustation. Some dorjes at that time were made from meteorites found in the Himalayas. This particular dorje is quite heavy and there is a possibility that it may be made from a meteorite but we have not had it tested. It was bought personally in Llasa, Tibet and is original and rare.

An Indian brass cylindrical box and cover profusely decorated with Hindu gods within Nandi borders. The metal is of a decent gauge giving the box a substantial feel, much heavier than the thin tourist work. The work is reminiscent of that from Benares. 19th century.

A bronze bell with the top of the dome around the handle having 8 lotus petals containing tibetan symbolic writing. Under this is a band with a pattern of alternating "dorje" and 4-leafed designs. About a centimeter above the lower rim of the bell is band of 59 standing "dorje" (diamond thunderbolts). Trident-handled Tibetan bronze bells of this age are very rare to come by. A figure of the eminent Tibetan goddess "Lhamo." Her face has bulging eyes, an open mouth showing her teeth and protruding tongue and bushy eyebrows. Her flaming hair is painted red. Period: 18th C. (Llamo) Size: Height = 17 cm., Width = 14.2 cm. (tip of mule's nose to tip of the tail) Condition: Lhamo missing earrings in left ear. The Lhamo and mule are separately cast; The mule appears to be of a later period (19th C).

A gilt Buddha seated on a lotus pedestal in the earth-touching gesture. The underside has an original preserved wooden cover (intact) painted with a vermillion colored double dorje(diamond thunderbolt). Period: 14th/15th Century Size: Height = 22 cm. Width at base = 16.5 cm. Condition: Gilding on bronze shows normal wear from age. In good condition.

A rare Goanese ivory figure base carved with the Magdalen reading in a niche flanked by leopards(?) and sheep. Traces of red, white, yellow and green pigment. Height: 4 in. ( 5 3/8 in. with base). 17th cent.

A Himalayan bronze figure of eleven-headed eight-armed Avalokitesvara standing on a lotus base and stepped plinth with primary hands in namaskara mudra and the others holding various attributes. Height: 6 in. 19th cent.

Base nicely worn. traces of old pigment in the detail of the casting. No damage.
