Both cover and box have been decorated with an incised scrolling floral pattern, the design accentuated with the use of two different coloured glazes. The inner surface and base remain unglazed. This covered stoneware box was made during the 13th - 15th centuries at the Sawankhalok kilns. It is elaborately decorated in underglaze blue with a ring of yellowish-brown glaze around the moulded top of the cover that is in the form of picked fruit. Diameter 9.75 cm, height 8 cm.
