Over the years I grew to appreciate good modernist jewelry and Sigi Pineda's work as a Mexican example of such, figures among my absolute favorites. A small polished carnelian colored stone suspended from a silver part, silver opium tools - the tamper with engraved flower decoration and poppy bloom form end - suspended from a metal part. Good condition with one missing stone. Total length 12 1/5 inches. Tamper length 3 1/4 inches.

Three polychrome enamel cloisonne decorated sections - two with butterflies and flowers flanking a larger central section with longevity symbols including the Shou character. The three sections and top joined by four paktong bands and bottom. The top silver plated brass with repousse silver alloy panel with treasures decoration joined metallurgically to cover. A 19th century Chinese paktong opium pipe, opium container, tool holders and tweezers en suite with base featuring engraved bird and flower decoration including a dragonfly, butterflies, fruit and (or course) poppy blooms. Attention to detail exhibited with copper-bronze lined rims to tool holders and pipe top. 10 characters (in four cartouches) maker's mark inside hinged opium container cover. Very good condition. A beautiful and rare Tiffany Studios etched bronze and art glass box with a butterfly and rare early chrysanthemum or carnation pattern. Signed Tiffany Studios New York measuring 8 inches square. In excellent condition great patina.

Classic Matilde Poulat bejeweled brooch in a stylized butterfly motif with dangles. Encrusted with amethyst, turquoise and coral gems this is an iconic Matl design - timeless and visually powerful in an earthy, primordial way. The brooch measures 2 1/4" tall (including the dangles) by 1 13/16" wide. It weighs 13.9 grams and is signed with both Matilde's and Salas's names. Dating around 1960 and in excellent vintage condition.

This African head rest is carved on the side supports with endless knot configuration. Additional carved detail is on the underside of the curved neckrest area. From Somali, the headrest has wonderful sculpture quality and is a good ethnographic tribal piece for display. Small crack in base goes less than 1/4 inch into wood...

A beautiful large Japanese Imari porcelain center bowl or platter very large size measuring approx. 17 inches long. Hand painted underglaze in traditional Imari color and incredible design motif circa 1900 . In very good condition one minor firing flaw. A fine addition to any collection.

Made of iron, silver and gold. The center is showing the Nanzen-ji complex, a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. Bordered by two beautifully elaborated dragons. The back with engraved ho-o birds and a long inscription, dated to the Taisho period (1917) and maker's seal. Condition: little wear, rim with one tiny blossom centre absent. Dimension: diameter: 25.8 cm, weight: 844 g.
