One of the best repousse figural brooches I have had over the years this is an early, stunning bird studded with blue and greenish blue turquoise cabochons. The repoussage is definitely the work of somebody who mastered the art - bold, deep, with excellent detail that has been accentuated with time by warmly glowing patina. If you have to portray a peacock, it better look like this one here! The brooch measures 4 1/8" tall by 1 7/8" wide (at its widest)...
