An exquisite carved Ivory image of Guanyin with the Buddha atop all hand carved from a very large tusk Measuring 5.5 in diameter 15 inches tall and 18 inches tall with stand. Signed with carved symbol on bottom. A fine example would make a nice addition to any collection.

This elaborate silver Miao headband would be worn by a woman for festival. First a piece of fabric would be tied around the womans head to protect her from the sharp edges of the metal. The headband would make a soft pleasing sound as the woman moved her head. The man on horseback and flowers are a reference to the Miao myth of bringing light into the world. The headband is approx 20 inches long.
A front Mandarin square dating from the second half of the 19th century. An insignia for an imperial censor, showing the white mythical beast "xiezahi" or "xiezhi" with its dragon head and single horn. Standing on a rock above deep water, the ground with auspicious emblems. Made of silk tapestry (kossu, k'o-suu) with metallic threads and painted details. The background was probably covered by peacock feathers, rarely survived to the present days. Sewn together and lined with blue silk...

An oval domed jade plaque of pale celadon color. Beautifully carved in relief with design of two scholars in a landscape. The reverse side with tiny drilled holes for mounting. Condition: fine. Dimension: 7.1 cm high x 7.9 cm wide, 1.7 cm deep. Weight: 64 g.
This vase has splayed foot, a bulbous body, a straight neck and a deepply foliated mouth with everted lip. The main body of the piece is decorated with a densely moulded floral design. Incised around the neck are stylised plantain leaves, a motive which becomes integral to the decorative sryle of qingbai. The piece is covered with white translucent glaze except for the base, which is unglazed.

Of very large size (25") and heavy (13 pounds each), these bronze pricket candlesticks are Japanese in origin, late Meiji, and are signed with an etched mark on the bottom of each.
