Early 940 sterling silver hinged cuff bracelet designed and signed circa 1940-48 by Taxco, Mexico artist Hector Aguilar(1905-86). Bracelet measures 1 3/8" wide with a 6 1/2" interior circumference. Five panels, each depicting a carved Aztec flower or Pre-Columbian design are mounted on two hinged sections. The bracelet is secured with a slide in pin attached to a safety chain. A latticework Hoya of solid silver caps this fine porcelain koro incense burner, a joint work by Miura Chikusen and Hashimoto Kansentsu, enclosed in the original shiho-kiri-wood box signed by both artists. It is 8.5 cm (3-1/2 inches) tall 11 x 16 cm across the handles (4-1/2 x 6-1/2 inches). Beast heads form the handles with a scholarly hut on one side, a poem in ancient script opposite. It is signed on the base by Chikusen and on the side by Kansetsu...
