Charming sake bottle (TOKKURI) of modern Bizen-ware. The surface has the characteristic roughness and earthen colours for this type of stoneware. It has large grey patches covering the front of the body. Signed in the bottom w. the artist’s mark. Original kiri-box signed: NAKAMURA Shinichiro. Also includes documentation and sealed cloth for the piece. The piece was made around 1985. H 13 cm. Condition: Perfect.

A large and rather unusual vase of Bizen-ware in ball-shaped form by the young artist Watanabe Takuma. The piece is made by overlapping bands in low relief interspersed w. sections decorated w. patterns emulating weaving. It has the typical Bizen earthern colours w. patches of grey. A beautiful drop-shaped vase w. a small irregular mouth made of a light type of fajance. The body is covered in a delicately mottled and beautifully toned glaze that ranges from a light greyish green over a pale green to a deep sap green in slanted, left-turning bands. The areas in deep green has raised ridges in relief. Signed in the bottom: Kenji.* Signed kiri-box. Document for the piece included. Made around 1975–78. H 18.5 cm, D 14 cm.

An interesting and decorative, square vase of stoneware by the MASHIKO artist AKASHI Shosaku (b. 1946).* The sides of the body decorated w. a deep, iron-brown glaze over thin, raised bands to forms stripes. The top is covered in a thick, creamy ash glaze which only covers partly. Signed kiri-box with the artists’ mark “Aka.” and with a documentation of piece. Done during the early 1980s. H 21.5 cm, W 12 cm. Condition: Excellent.

This is really big! I do not have it right here to measure ( it is at my office ) but I think it is at least 14 to 16 inches tall! The son of the famous Tsujimura Shiro, Kai's talent is at least equal to his father's IMHO. This vase evokes images of the moon over trees in winter. wonderful rich glaze, great shape and a fine lip. A perfect tea ceremony piece. Excellent condition, signed box.
