Very tall and substantial, wonderfully glazed studio pottery vase by Mathies Schwarze. A master potter, who trained in Germany with some of the most preeminent ceramic artists, he has been working since the 1960s and now has his own school as well.
The vase is glazed in beautiful shades of dark reds, rusts and hints of green. A considerable and weighty piece, it is 14 1/2 inches tall and about 17 inches in diameter at the widest point. Signed on the base and dated for 2005.
