It's been a Kaneta Hagi week of sorts and here is the last-fab work that speaks once again of majestic mountains and waterfalls; it changes temperament with every turn and is an outstanding example of Kaneta's work in a medium size, 26cm.tallx19cm, signed on base and with a signed box. This splendid hanaire (vase) was made by a potter named Unokawa Kazumasa, a master craftsman of Tenmoku pottery, one of the most difficult to make. This particular piece is a more personal work by the potter, who likes to delve into less rigorous creative fields than the domain of Tenmoku ware. Yet here, too, the astral connection to the work of the artist is reflected in this original moon shaped vase.

Ito Keiji(b.1935) works in the hills outside Toki city, not far from the legendary kilns of the Momoyama period. He straddles a world of craftsman works combined with his purely artistic essays in clay.
