A sophisticated sculptural Bizen vase by rising Bizen star Watanabe Takuma enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Overlapping straps of clay rise to an unsuspecting end at the opening. The burnt red surface is mottled with soft charring and a smattering of green Shizen-Yu ash glaze. The piece is over 9 inches (23.5 cm) tall, 7 inches (19 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. A large Ruiza O-tsubo by Okada Teru (b. 1947) enclosed in the original signed wooden box purchased at a 2001 exhibition at the Osaka Takashimaya department Store. The entire surface has been cut with swirling facets, rising from red flame to charred dark earth. The tsubo is 16-1/2 inches (42 cm) tall, 13 inches (33 cm) diameter and in excellent condition. A fantastic sculptural Bizen vase by Ajiki Hiro (b. 1948) enclosed in the original signed wooden box dating circa 1995. The vase is roughly 14 inches (35 cm) tall and very heavy, the entire piece carved and cored from a solid block of clay. Hiro is an artist versed in many of Japans ceramic traditions. A mentori square vase with odd openings by American artist Donna Gilliss dating circa 1988 enclosed in the original signed wooden box. A huge red moon circles over the dark charred clay. A spectacular run of liquid ash decorates this tapering Bizen vase by pottery master Kakurezaki Ryuichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The shape is very natural, almost glacial in the sliding sculpted form. It is 5-1/2 by 9 by 7 inches (14 x 23 x 18 cm) and in perfect condition. A prominent mimitsuki mentori vase by Kakurezaki Ryuichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The tapering rectangular form has been gouged and cut, slabs torn off and odd holes sliced into the sides and top. The clay is dark and shiny, spattered with green ash.
