The ever-imaginative Oaxacan artisan Eleazar Morales is the creator of this vibrantly painted "hang dog" (looking over a ledge) carving. It is a kaleidoscope of colors, with lavendar and red the predominant colors. On the body, intricate designs are painted in turquoise and the face is painted in fine detail. The carving is made especially for a shelf or table, so that it can look down from its special spot. Approximate dimensions: 10" Long x 5" Wide x 4" High.

This Appaloosa horse is a fine example of artisan Eleazar Morales' imaginative painting. The beautiful prancing horse is a mottled gray with a brown spotted pattern and black mane. it has a flowing gray and black tail, and the stomach is dark blue. The legs have black stockings and the hooves are a combination of peach, black and brown. The head is finely detailed, with turquoise eyes and red ears. Acclaimed Oaxacan artisan Armando Jimenez had created this handsome "King of the Jungle." The lion is bright yellow with Jimenez' trademark small accent lines in black. The bountiful mane is red with blue highlights, and the face has a purple nose, green eyes and ears. The curving tail is black and yellow stripes, with a bright red tip; the feet are blue. Kokeshi, folk toy of NE Japan. Wood, Height 9.5". This is an example of the unique Nambu-kei kokeshi from Iwate Prefecture. Of the Tohoku (NorthEast) Region where all "dentou" (traditional) kokeshi originate, Iwate may have the fewest number of craftsmen and localized traditions.
