A very large celadon platter by Yoshikawa Masamichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is made to either sit or hang suspended from wire on the back. Here we have the maverick of Mino showing off his skills again with a superb chawan in green and white with iron floral designs by Suzuki Goro enclosed in the original wooden box titled Oribe Chawan and signed in the lower left corner. The sandy white clay, felt even through the glossy glazes, lends the bowl a heart, and the undulating rim gets it pumping...

A wide and low porcelain bowl perfect for Usu-cha by Ono Hakuko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yuri Kinsai Chawan.  The pattern is created by applying gold foil to the surface before firing, and called in Japanese Kinsai.  Gaps in the application create designs like broken ice.

A round form covered in fissured green celadon by Kishimoto Kennin enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Seiji Chawan and endorsed inside by Zen Priest Tachibana Daiki of Daitokuji Temple, home of the Tea Ceremony.  Profound, like an empty blue sky, the form floats lightly over the dark clay of the perfectly formed kodai base.  It is signed within that base ring by Kennin.

Stratified color radiates about this late work by artist Miyashita Zenji enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Sai-Hafu Moyo Kabin.  Like ripples left by waves on the beach or wind in the dunes, the title means Colored Wave/Wind Patterned Vase.  It is an excellent example of this artist, at a size which makes it easily collectable.

Two Guinomi sake cups and a Tokkuri by Kato Yasukage enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shino Tokkuri/Guinomi, Nezumi Shino Guinomi.  The cups are cool, one in white glaze tinged red, the other in blue-gray glaze tinged with a reddish-blue.  They are beautifully uniform in a misshapen way, allowing no favoritism to the drinkers...

Fired in an anagama small-batch kiln, this other-worldly looking saké cup (guinomi) displays rich ochre hues in areas where the rough clay shows through and is covered in a lush Oribe green glaze which is difficult to achieve. The brilliant green color is the result of copper glaze applied to the clay body which is then fired at 1220 degrees C—creating an oxidation reaction...

Well proportioned and exceptionally light in the hand, this lovely tea bowl features a stylized depiction of a horse in stride in what appears to be a brown ferrous glaze on a background of ash glaze (灰油 hai-yu)...
