This is a rare painting on shikishi board by famous Kyoto artist Tokuriki Tomikichiro. He was best known for his prints, but was originally trained as a painter.
Brushed using ink and limited color pallet, Tokuriki depicted a butterfly and field horsetail (tsukushi) and a plant that is most likely field asparagus (udo), both widely used during spring in meals.
Painted in late 1980s, and is 27.1 by 24.2 cm.
