This is a Jian ware (or Jian zhan) platter created by a mid-career Japanese ceramic artist, Takeshi Furukawa. The glaze pattern of this platter is called “rabbit fur” which was originally preferred in China in the 11th century. The melted iron glaze separated to develop the “rabbit fur” effect on the rim of the platter.
