Spectacular kiln affects dapple this playful form by artist Sugimoto Sadamitsu enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Iga Hanire.  Ash has encrusted the base so thickly he has had to grind it off, this happens when the piece gets buried up to a point in the ash on the kiln flooror up against a wall, and the works come up together this cooled encrustation.  That combines with the natural sunrise colors or “Hi-iro” of the clay, and the glassy green beads wrapping around the jocula...

A spectacular work of charred dark clay by legendary potter Kakurezaki Ryuichi enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply Kuro Bizen.  The angular form rises from a triad of block feet flaring out before breaking upon three sharp points at the shoulder, a narrow neck rising with a slight flare.  Dark upon one side clings blue-gray ash separated from the raw dark clay by a thin bead of pale brown color.  Texture, form, color, this one has it all!

A very large (oburi) and powerful Shino chawan by Miyamura Yoshinobu very reminiscent of Hayashi Shotaro's works. Thick splashes of pure white Shino glaze punctuate the rusty red Aka-Shino glaze which covers the entire teabowl.

This chawan measures 5.4" X 4" and is in perfect condition and comes with it's signed box.

An excellent example of the great works being made today based on Momoyama era Mino-yaki...

Spectacular Hi-iro defines this sake set by Konishi Toko II enclosed in the original signed wooden box. Various shades of color scorch the undecorated flame licked raw earth. A pleasure to drink from in every aspect, every cup offering a new facet. The tokkuri is 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) tall, cups 2-1/4 inches (6 cm) diameter and all is in perfect condition. Toko, of course, learned from his father Toko I (1899-1954) and was succeeded by his own son Toko III.

A tall shizen-yu vase by Sugimoto Sadamitsu enclosed in the original wooden box signed underneath and titled Iga-Hanaire , named within the lid Roso by Sadamitsu (the old priest by Sadamitsu).  We see the slightly hunched over form is indeed reminiscent of an old priest, wrapped in robes of green and black and leaning on his staff.  This piece appears to have been buried quite deeply in ash, which clung charred and blasted base and has been ground off to create a new texture, like the water bu...
