This wonderful Georgian ring could have been worn by one of Jane Austen’s more well-to-do characters! It features a rose-cut diamond (pointed top instead of flat), set in 14kt gold with decorations in black enamel on the shank, which are still in excellent condition. Diamond is the birthstone for April. The ring is approximately a size 5. It isn’t possible to estimate the weight of set rose cut diamonds; it is in the I range for clarity – normal for its era...

The brooch measures 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 3/4" deep and weighs 8.7g. With the chains, the whole piece measure 2-1/2” long. The pin stem assembly appears to be all original...

This impressive intaglio brooch features the head of a Trojan War hero, unless I miss my guess. Remember the phrase "long-haired Achaeans" from Homer? Those look like curls at the base of his helmet -- and wasn't Achilles hanging out among some princesses when Odysseus turned up? But I digress.

As a Greek Revival piece, the jewel likely dates from the Late Georgian or Regency period...

This lovely (unmarked but tested) 10kt gold jewel is from the early 1800s (around Jane Austen's time), when cannetille work was the vogue: very fine gold wires twisted into thin ropes and then formed into rosettes and whatnot. The amethyst is a lovely delicate shade, and weighs approximately 2.5 carats – it’s very deep. Amethysts are said to bring calm, and help banish headaches. The bale is decorated very prettily. The whole lavalier, including the bale, measures 1-1/2 x 9/16”...

Georgian green paste eternity band in 15K gold. Paste is colored or clear glass, often lead or flint, cut in the same fashion as gemstones and used as a substitute especially when traveling. Antique paste jewelry was valued on its own merits and not as an imitation of another piece of jewelry. This Georgian green paste ring is a wonderful example of the genre. The ring is a size 8 and measures 1/8" wide.
