Circa 1940's, this is a spectacular necklace from Marcel Boucher. It's hand-wrought and extremely substantial, weighing in at 158.2 grams, or over 5 troy ounces.

Boucher was born in Paris, and apprenticed with Cartier. He has a reputation of being perhaps the greatest costume jewelry designer. In the 1940's, he produced silver jewelry in Mexico under the name Parisina. In 1957, he opened his business in New York.

Hand wrought in thick silver & weighing 95 grams this cuff was designed by Spratling in the 1940's. The bracelet stands 1 1/2" high and will comfortably fit up to a 6 3/4" wrist. Inside diameter is 2 1/2". The back opening is 1 1/4" wide. The bracelet is in beautiful condition with a nicely aged patina. Hallmarked on the reverse. One of the Mexican designs inspired by Far Eastern cultures, the koi fish are a signature creation of Margot de Taxco and the Los Castillo yet its popularity prompted many of their "less celebrated" or anonymous contemporary maestros to come up with their own versions of it. And thankfully so because one can now find a beautiful example by a talented maker without having to break the bank - or at least not in a truly dramatic way! Bearing the signature of Pedro Castillo who opened his own workshop in 1940, after having worked for both William Spratling and Hector Aguilar this early Taxco modernist necklace is made using the overlay technique which has also been enhanced by purposeful oxidation. Perfectly finished, it has generous weight and at just a hair less than 16", it is not only a gorgeous piece to wear but it is quite comfortable...

This bracelet is the work of Horatio de la Parra, whose company Plateria Azteca produced hollowware for both William Spratling and Hector Aguilar.

It's an early piece, dating to the 1940's. Six repoussé silver panels, each with a high domed amethyst cabochon, make for a regal deco design bracelet which closes with a pin.

Closed, wearable length is 6 3/4". Width is 1 3/8".

Weight is 73.8 grams.

Signed and hallmarked "Parra Mexico Silver Hnos".

Pre-eagle, circa 1930's-early 1940's, this necklace is a gorgeous statement piece.

It's entirely hand-wrought, with a center medallion measuring 4" wide. It's studded with tiny silver beading, and the oxidized background provides great depth and dimension.

This hand crafted silver box was designed & signed c. 1940's by renowned artist Hubert Harmon during his short time in Taxco, Mexico. Weighing 265 grams or 9.4 oz. the piece measures 5" long X 3" wide X 1/2" deep. The hand carved amethyst stones & silver are in beautiful condition. Harmon's sense of humor & whimsy are evident in this design where he uses his trade mark "bare feet with wings" along with the face & body of an angel & a carved amethyst star in the sky above. Circa 1930's to early 40's, this is a crazy killer gorgeous ring and ultimate statement piece from Fred Davis. The amethyst measures 1 3/16" x 15/16, and it is huge. Silver tests out to be just over 97% purity. Quite substantial at a weighty 22.8 grams. Measures a size 7.5 on a ring sizer. Signed and hallmarked with the conjoined FD, Silver, and Made in Mexico. It's in excellent vintage condition. Has never been sized.

I have written in the past that Elna jewelry is more often than not very generous in proportions but this stunner of a bracelet goes above and beyond that! It is not just its sheer monumentality that impresses. It is also the classically "archaeological" character of the design itself which is expressed by the carved stone "mask" of an ancient Aztec Eagle warrior. Awesome in its military magnificence, the portrait is flanked by highly stylized butterfly (?) links with big cabochons set in bezels...
