Spratling designed this stunning sterling silver piece during a period of time when he worked to develop a plan modeled on what he had done in Taxco, to help create an economic base for native Alaskans writes Penny Morrill in her book WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENASSIANCE p.239. Hallmarks date this Hector Aguilar necklace pre-1948. Detachable pendant is original to the V chain, and this piece is collector quality. An ode to overlay, beading and masterfully applied oxidation, this figural little Mexican Deco brooch is a depiction of Ozomahtli, the monkey companion of god Xochipili, associated with play and merry-making. I could have easily sworn that this is an example of Francisco Rivera’s work yet since it is not signed for maker, I can only suggest this might be the case...

Very much in the style associated with Matilde Poulat and often referred to as "Mexico City repousse" this sweet little silver "serpent scales" bracelet is adorned with an amethyst cabochon in its central station. An early example of this "school", it is an honest attempt to emulate the "grand dame" of Mexican silver jewelry albeit in a more demure, smaller scale than most of Matl's work...

This pre-1948 bracelet produced by Frederick Walter Davis features nine amethyst cabochons set in repoussé silver panels with a sunrise design.

It's a beautiful piece, with oxidized recesses and amethyst gemstones which are perfectly matched in color.

Born in the U.S. in 1880, Davis moved to Mexico in 1910 and began designing and selling jewelry. Often, he designed jewelry and contracted with master artisans to produce these designs...

With hallmarks dating 1940-1944, this necklace is an iconic piece from William Spratling's 1st design period.

It's very rare to see this design complete with the original five strand tubular silver necklace, and it is collector quality. The large amethyst cabochon measures 1 1/4" in diameter, and is a gorgeous stone with natural inclusions and quartz marbling. The five strand chain connects at the sides with the signature turtle back Spratling clasp.

A very rare Los Castillo masterpiece dating 1939-1940 and hallmarked with their earliest marks. Likely designed by Margot, who was married to Antonio Castillo during this time.

It's a spectacular necklace with seven large repoussé floral pendants at front and center. 6mm and 4mm silver beads alternate throughout the necklace.

Measures a closed, wearable length of 15 1/2". Each pendant measures 1 5/8" tall, 1 1/4" wide.

Chunky heavy early modernist ring with a large faceted genuine amethyst stone. With two tiny marks on the outside of the shank. One is 800 or 900 (I can't be sure which), for silver content, and the other is a tiny hallmark or maker's mark in a cartouche. Circa 1940. Most likely European, based on the silver content and the other mark. Very well worked, with deep parallel ridges, in a great Deco/modernist design. Heavy for its size at 20 grams. Ring size 6. Glowing with the patina of time that adds precious depth to recesses of the design, this vintage Los Castillo repousse brooch has a more romantic air about it than most of their work. 1930's - early 1940's, this Fred Davis bracelet is a book-piece design shown in "Mexican Silver". A huge rectangular bezel-set amethyst cabochon is front and center, with six opposing angled silver panels on each side. Closes with a tight and secure tongue in box clasp.
