A fabulous example of Taxco modernism by Los Ballesteros, this vintage Mexican silver and amethyst bracelet is as beautiful to look at as it is comfortable to wear. A couple of days ago I presented another creation by the same workshop and I will suggest that the two pieces are representative of their line of medium-width modernist link bracelets...

The fire that this Elsa Schiaparelli bracelet and earrings sends out has to be seen to be believed. Large Gripoix poured glass, lava stones (sometimes called gum drop stones) are surrounded by 12 brilliant aurora borealis rounds. The bracelet is 7 5/8" (19.8 cm) long (not including the tongue) by 1 1/4" ( 3.5 cm). The ear clips a 1 1/4" (3.5cm) in diameter. The bracelet has a guard chain and a tight working clasp. The earring clips have lots of spring...

A pair of vintage modernist sterling silver brooches designed by Gudmund Elvestad for J. Tostrup of Norway. May be purchased individually or as a pair.

The first one is a stylish anthropomorphic design with burnished and textured finish.

Measures 2 1/8" across and 1 1/2" high.

The second brooch appears to be a styled human figure with long bent arms...

I love to find these rare pieces made by unknown makers. This one is exceptional. The size of the center link is 2.5 inches. There is a wearable length of 19 inches. All other links and earrings are 1.5 inches long. No chips or cracks to the stones and no dents to the silver. The lock is hidden under a link showing a well thought out design. All the repousse is thick with a total weight of 127.5 grams. Hallmarked MADE IN MEXICO STERLING. Extremely well cared for, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!

Fabulous early statement size YSL bracelet in heavy cast goldtone metal with "molten gold" stones in sculpted settings. Marked YSL and MADE IN FRANCE. Late 1970s or early 1980s, designed by Robert Goossens, who has designed jewelry for decades for Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, and other couturiers. Early foldover clasp. 8 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide and 1/2 inch deep. Excellent condition. Photos enlarged to show detail. Display form is life size.

Very fine pair of late Art Noveau 18K gold double-sided cufflinks. The faces show a beautifully designed young woman's face stylized wisps of hair cascading around a porthole-like frame. The design is really superb. The connectors open so the cufflinks are easy to put on. The backs are marked with French 18K import marks. The rather severely stylized design suggests that they are of Belgian or German (possibly Austrian) origin.

This great 3-piece set (parure, suite) has a modernist design, with leaves swirling into buds. The brooch is also a pendant. It measures 2 1/4" x 1 1/2". It is marked TAXCO HECHO EN MEXICO STERLING 925 Assay Mark 3 and V.A. (for the silversmith). The earrings are screwbacks and measure 1/2" x 1 1/4", marked TAXCO V.A., as well. This 3-piece set is in great condition and has a good heft.

This brilliant 1.13 carat pear shaped diamond is set in platinum. The intricately faceted stone is EGL certified as having G color and VS1 clarity. Two subtle tapered baguettes, one on each side of the rock, tip the carat weight to 1.40 total. This vintage stunner dates from the 1950's or 60’s. The ring is a size 5 and it can easily be sized.

An extraordinarily fine pair of late Victorian or early Edwardian 18K yellow gold cufflinks, the faces in the form of navette-shaped buttons carved from crystal opal. The faces are accented with silver “stitches”, each accented with a five small rose cut diamonds. The opals have clear body color and the play-of-color is predominantly shades of green and blue with occasional flecks of orangy-red. The faces are connected by gold chains to gold torpedo backs...

A beautifully romantic French Art Nouveau heart-shaped coin purse, bordered in square cut blue sapphires and centered with a heart-shaped sapphire. The sapphires have very slightly violetish-blue sapphires color and eye clean clarity. The frame is engraved in a geometric pattern and the closure is set with cabochon sapphires. The frame's interior is engraved with a pair of serial numbers, indicating the purse was made by one of the more important French joailliers at the turn of the century...

An Edwardian engraved 10k rolled gold plate hinged baby bangle 1910-20. This bangle measures 1-15/16" x 1-3/4" across the interior and it is 1/4" wide. The engraving on the front half has remarkably not been monogrammed or initialed, it has a push-button release, and it is stamped 10K GOLD SHELL, another term that refers to rolled gold plating. This item is in excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs...

DESCRIPTION: Late 1900s, a fine sterling pendant with a cut-out flourish on the pendant plate and with a large, colorful calsilica stone, also called "rainbow calsilica," this one reflecting the painted colors of a Southwestern mountain desert at sunset.
