I've seen a lot of bakelite hats, but few of them are carved deeply like this one is. It is large also. It has a diameter of about 2 5/8". It has a pin embedded in the back - not just glued on. The brooch is in excellent condition and there are no marks.
This brooch is a beauty. It is large and deeply carved. It is just short of 3 1/2" wide and the Egyptian figure in the center is 1 3/4" from top to bottom. The carving is decorated with what appears to be a bit of golden cord. The pin is embedded in the pin and not glued on. I think you can also see that the head was carved separately and then attached with metal screws or rivets. It really is a superb piece in excellent condition with no problems and no marks.
